Lo-fi music is a genre that I personally listen to quite a bit. Lo-fi, short for low fidelity, is music in which technical imperfections in sound are present. These can be anything from background noice, to limited frequency response, to various types of distortion. This low fidelity music, in my opinion, has the same vibe and effect as white noise. In fact, white noise is often present in this music. This helps to create a calming effect to the listener.
Personally, I often listen to low fidelity music when I'm studying. It helps me focus and stay calm. As someone with axniety, I love any sound that can have this effect. With the growing popularity of lo-fi music, it seems as though many others have had the same experience.
When going to write my own lo-fi piece, I wanted to draw on that idea of relaxation, calm, and focus. Something else that helps me feel calm is being inside during a rainy day and listening to the rain fall. I decided to combine this sound of a rainy day with lo-fi to create this piece, which I have appropriately named "rainy day study music."
I wanted this piece to be something that represents all of the warm feelings of being cozy inside during a rainy day. I wanted this piece to be the equivilant of reading a book while watching the rain fall. I wanted this piece to be something that can be used to create a calming vibe while studying, or music to help one fall asleep.
I hope that this piece is any or all of those things to you, or anything that you choose it to be. I hope you enjoy rainy day study music [lo-fi beats for studying/sleeping].
